What is Cross Country?  Cross Country is a running event that takes place on grass, through woods, and over pavement.

How far would my child have to run?  Grades K-5 would go no further that 2000 meters (1.25 miles in a race.  Grades 4-6 would go no further than 3000 meters (1.8 miles) in a race).  Grades 7-8 would go no further than 4000 meters (2.5 miles).

What if my child has never run before?  That’s ok.  We start every season as if our entire team has never run before.  We break our training groups up by age, grade and ability level.  All we want is for each and every one of our kids to be the best version of themselves they can be.

When and where is practice?  Practices are held on Monday and Wednesday nights from 5:45 pm - 7:15pm on the front fields of Idlewild Park in Burlington beginning on Monday July 30th.

When and where are meets?  Our meets are normally on Saturdays.  We do have a couple of meets during the week.  We try to balance the schedule and stay close to home as much as possible but we do also travel to the Lexington and Louisville area a few times a year.

What if my child cannot attend every practice or every meet?  That’s ok.  We know children and families are pulled is several different directions.  We just want your child involved.  The only mandatory dates we have are:  Wednesday October 10th - KTCCCA NKY Middle School/Elementary School Regional Cross Country Championships at Idlewild Park and Saturday October 20th - KTCCCA Middle School/Elementary School State Cross Country Championships at Masterson Station Park in Lexington, KY.

Does my child need a physical to participate:  Yes.  Every child needs a physical on the approved KHSAA Middle School physical form before our first meet on 8/18.  You can find the form on our website under Middle School/Youth and at https://khsaa.org/forms/ms01.pdf.

How much does it cost?  1st child from the same household is $85. The 2nd child from the same household is $60. The cost for the 3rd child or any more children after that from the same household will be $45 per child.
